A prayer for my son

A prayer for a future son from Ephesians 3:14-21 as expressed in the book.

To my future son.

As your father I look forward to this journey watching you and my precious daughter grow together in the wisdom and grace of our Heavenly Father.

I pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.

Then Christ will make His home in your heart as you trust in Him.
Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Why do this?

  • It is vital to be praying for the man or woman your child will one day marry. Even whilst your children are young and far from marriage. We started uplifting the men who will one day marry our daughters soon after each one was born. God inhabits the future.
  • This young man may be facing incredible challenges right now. Your prayers will empower and strengthen them as we engage life and death battles in the unseen realms.

I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called–his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. Ephesians 1:16-18 (NLTSE)

I will share how to effectively pray for your children and their future in blogs to come.
